Willow revetment streambank restoration project
 |
Mid-February 1997. A steep 10 foot tall and 50 foot long eroding streambank has been laid back and terraced with willow revetments. The wall structure will stabilize the bank until the roots establish themselves.
|
One month later. greenery appears as the willows take off. Additional cuttings of willows, ninebark, and dogwood were sprouted between the walls. Native blackberries and rushes were transplanted around the structure. |

Early June, 1997.
In only four months the willows have grown
to such an extent that the walls are hidden.
The roots are well incorporated into the bank.
